HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College Head Women’s Golf Coach Tommy Baker has announced the signing of three women’s golfers to National Letters of Intent to play golf for the Cobras during the early signing period. Sara Allen, Mallory Thompkins and Jessi McKenzie will hit the links as Cobra women’s golfers starting in the fall of 2011.

“With the signing of Sara, Mallory and Jessi, the Coker women’s golf program has laid its footprint on recruiting academically and athletically strong golfers in the state of South Carolina,” said Baker. “All three of these young ladies should have an immediate impact on the program. They are all wonderful individuals that come from outstanding families. ”

Allen comes to Coker from Fort Mill, S.C. where she is a five-time letter winner and four-time All-Conference golfer at Fort Mill High School. She is a four-time All-Area selection, was the 2010 conference tournament medalist with a score of 77 and is currently ranked #39 in the South Carolina Junior Girls Rankings.

Thompkins is a native of Georgetown, S.C. and is a three-time All-Region selection and six-time letter winner at Georgetown High School. A two-time member of the Sun News “Toast of the Coast”, she won four NJGT Beach Series events in 2010 and was a Top 20 finisher at the South Carolina AAA State Tournament.

McKenzie will join the Cobras from McBee, S.C. as a five-time letter winner and All-Region selection in golf and track. She is the younger sister of current Cobra women’s golfer, Bobbi McKenzie.

The Coker women are gearing up for their first spring season of competition starting in February. The Cobras will travel to Kiawah Island, S.C. for the Kiawah Island Invitational on February 5-6.
