Cobras Fall to No. 5 Railsplitters on Saturday

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker women's basketball dropped its South Atlantic Conference contest with No. 5 Lincoln Memorial 85-68 on Saturday (Jan. 21).

The teams went bucket for bucket in the first quarter, which ended 20-16 in favor of the visitors. Trailing 8-5, Kendra Lambert knocked down a pair of free throws to cut the difference to one. After a LMU bucket, Trai Johnson put the pressure back on the visitors. Raquel McArthur hit a mid-range jumper to keep the deficit at one, before Caitland Considine would split a pair of free throws to tie the game at 12. The Railsplitters would respond with four straight points, before Lambert hit two more free throws to keep the lead to two. Each team would net one more bucket before the end of the frame.

The Railsplitters would win the second quarter 18-12 to take a 10-point to the half. The visitors would win the third quarter 23-18, despite Coker shooting 43.8 percent from the field in the frame. The teams went bucket for bucket in the fourth, with LMU holding a 24-22 advantage in the final 10 minutes. The Railsplitters were able to help distance themselves from the home team via the free throw line, where they shot 22-26 (84.6 percent).

Considine led the Cobras with 12 points, while Sydney Shull chipped in nine. Eight other Cobras logged points in the contest. As a team, Coker out-rebounded LMU 44-32, led in second chance points 12-11 and also led in bench points 38-36.

The Cobras are back in action on Wednesday (Jan. 25) when they travel to Catawba for a SAC contest. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m.
