Late Run Sinks Cobras Against Mars Hill

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker women's basketball dropped its matinee contest to visiting Mars Hill on Saturday (Jan. 9) 82-71.

Jazz Green led the Coker attack, posting a double-double with a team-high 26 points and 11 rebounds. The senior also dished out five assists. Terrika Foster had an outstanding day, posting 26 points of her own, including a 5-6 effort from the charity stripe. Kendra Lambert added 13 points, putting three starters in double figures.

The Cobras held a 33-31 lead at the break after outscoring the Lions 23-9 in the second quarter. The Lions would regain the lead going to the fourth quarter, holding the Cobras down 58-56. With just under six minutes left Coker cut the lead to two on a Kendra Lambert three-pointer. The teams traded blows until a pair of Kiara Shoats free throws put Coker up 71-70 with 3:30 left. Mars Hill would embark on a 12-0 run over the final three minutes to snatch the victory.

The Cobras are back at home on Wednesday (Jan. 13) when they host Newberry. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m. at the DeLoach Center. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
