Coker Drops SAC Road Matchup Against Tusculum

GREENEVILLE, TENN. – The Coker College women's basketball fell to the Tusculum College Pioneers on the road, 75-66, on Saturday (Jan. 24) in South Atlantic Conference action.

A tightly contested first half saw neither team lead by more than seven as the Pioneers held a 35-29 halftime lead. The Cobras were shooting at an impressive 50 percent clip from behind the arc, however 29.4 and 33.3 percent shooting from the field and free throw line left them trailing by six.

Tusculum started the first seven minutes of the second half on an 11-0 run to push their lead out to 17. Coker would proceed to chip away at the Pioneer lead and would trim the deficit down to only five points with 7:30 left on the clock. The teams would trade baskets down the stretch with Tusculum's 23-26 performance from the free throw line being the difference.

Tanesha Stenson led the Navy and Yellow offensively and defensively with 15 points, five rebounds and five assists. Kiara Shoats finished the afternoon with 12 points, while Heidrun Kristmundsdottir chipped in eight points, four rebounds and four assists.

The Cobras will be back in action on Wednesday (Jan. 28) to take on the Wingate Bulldogs. Game time is set for 6 p.m. at the DeLoach Center.
