Coker to Host Mount Olive in Quarterfinals

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team will start their post-season journey this Tuesday (Mar. 5) as the number four seed against Mount Olive in the Conference Carolinas tournament.  Live video coverage of the game can be found at www.cokercobras.com

Coker (18-10, 14-8) is taking a six game win streak into the game, with three of those games coming at home.  The Cobras have not lost a game in Timberlake-Lawton gymnasium since February 6, and have posted a 10-2 home record on the year.  

In the first meeting between these two teams, Coker came out victorious after defeating the Trojans by a score of 78-64.   The Lau sisters combined for 43-points, while Angie Lawrence chipped in 16. 

The second meeting was a much closer competition, but the Cobras were able to come out on top after pulling out a 66-63 win.  The game included a 27-point performance from Autumn Lau, and an 18-point performance from Lawrence.  Lawrence also had the team high seven rebounds.

Mount Olive (15-11, 11-11) is entering the game on a three game losing streak, after dropping three straight conference games to Limestone, Pfeiffer, and Barton.  The Trojans have the number five seed in the tournament.

Tamara Nesmith and Joneiqua Gary are the offensive leaders for the Trojans.  Nesmith is averaging 16.3-points per game on the season, while Gary is averaging 12.2. 

The quarterfinals game of the conference tournament will begin at 7:00 p.m., in the Timberlake-Lawton gymnasium.
