Cobras Strike Down Fleet With 61-49 Victory

HARTSVILLE, SC – Priscilla Fenty had a double-double for the Cobras in Thursday (Jan. 3) night's 61-49 victory over Conference Carolina foe Erskine College.  The win improves the Cobras to an overall record of 8-3, with a conference record of 4-1.

Coker jumped out to a quick 12-6 lead in the first half, but the Flying Fleet battled back and tied up the game with 12-minutes remaining.  The Cobras slowly regained the lead and were able to take a 32-24 advantage into the break.

The second half was a different story for the Cobras, as the offense surged by going on a 10-6 run within the first seven minutes.  The Fleet however, were able to battle back to only a nine point deficit with seven minutes remaining.  The Cobras countered by going on a 10-3 run of their own, as the clock dwindled down to just three minutes.

In the end, the Cobra's proved to be too much for the Flying Fleet.  Along with Fenty, Amber Lau reached double-digit scoring and led the team with 15-points.  Joining Fenty and Lau was Angie Lawrence who contributed 13-points.

As a team, the Cobras shot 34-percent from the floor and collected 50 total rebounds.  Eight Cobras scored, including 14 bench points.

Leading Erskine was Andrienne Bannerman, who scored a game high 18-points and collected six rebounds.

Coker will play their next competition at home on Saturday (Jan. 5) as they get set to host North Greenville in a Conference Carolinas match.  The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
