How It Happened:
Game 1: Augusta jumped out to an early 4-0 lead with three runs in the top of the first and another in the top of the third. In the bottom of the third, the Cobras struck back, cutting the deficit to just two runs off an Ariana Fair homer that scored Lacey Hennessy to make it 4-2. Another two runs were scored by Augusta to take a commanding 6-2 lead, bu the Cobras weren't done yet. Attempting the comeback, Madie Andrews hit a two-RBI single to center field that scored Savanah Fowler and Cribbs to make it 6-4 and put the Cobras in striking distance. Unfortunately, Coker couldn't come up with another run and it was on to Game 2.
Game 2: It was a big early lead for Augusta in this one, scoring three runs in the top of the first and five runs in the top of the fourth to take a resounding 8-0 lead over the Cobras. In the bottom of the fourth, the Cobras notched themselves in the scoring column with a Cheyenne Palmer RBI single that brought home Payton Brigman. After another Jaguar score put them up 9-1, Ally Moore and Fair scored on an error to cut into the lead at 9-3. The Jaguars' final run was scored in the top of the sixth to make it 10-3, and now the Cobras had some work to do. They got one back in the bottom of the sixth when Freeman doubled to left to score Fowler to make it 10-4, and it all came down to the bottom of the seventh. A huge spark came when Bailee Gaskins hit a two-run shot that also brought in Fair to make it 10-6. Then, just after, Palmer hit an RBI single that scored Brigman to put another run on the board at 10-7. Unfortunately, it was too little too late and the Cobras fell at the hands of the Jaguars.
