Cobra Corner
- The Cobras had a successful week last week, earning a 3-1 record including a two-game sweep over Erskine. Their lone loss was a great game against Mount Olive that went extra innings, but the Cobras were able to take Game 1 against the Trojans
- Madie Andrews was 2-0 as a starting pitcher this week with a 2.33 ERA. She batted over .500 on the week as well, getting it done on both offense and defense
- Ari Fair tied the Coker Softball All-Time Steals Record this past week, coming into the week with 51 and finishing with 53. One more will put her in sole possession of the prestigious recognition!
Last Time Out
- Game 1 at UMO: A big first inning for the Cobras produced three runs, which ended up making the difference down the stretch for the team. Coker made it 4-0 in the top of the fourth on a Mya Cribbs single that brought home Ashton Goodwin, then UMO stormed back to make this one a close contest with three runs of their own. Bailee Gaskins added an insurance run by bringing home Savanah Fowler to wrap this one up at 5-3.
- Game 2 at UMO: With a barrage of scoring in game two, the Cobras fell in dramatic fashion. After being down 5-1, Coker saw two runs come home after a Payton Brigman double brought through Cheyenne Palmer and Gaskins to close it to just a two-run gap. UMO made it 6-3, but then a big five-run inning by Coker had them take an 8-6 lead. Tied at 8-8 and going to extras, the Cobras fell in a dramatic contest at 11-10.
- Game 1 at Erskine: Highlighted by a two-RBI single by Andrews, the Cobras jumped out to a 4-0 lead and didn't look back in a dominant outing. Erskine made it 4-1, but then Gaskins knocked home one of her two home runs of the week to make it 6-1. A Cribbs single that scored Andrews added another one for good measure and ended this one at 7-1.
- Game 2 at Erskine: Gaskins got things going early, cranking a two-run home run in the top of the first to score herself and Cribbs to take an early 2-0 lead. Erskine made things interesting early when they tied it at 2-2, but the Cobras scored seven unanswered runs (including a three-run shot by Cribbs) to take this one at 9-2.
