Cobras and Crusaders Meet in Thursday Doubleheader

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College softball team (20-4) will take on the visiting North Greenville University Crusaders on Thursday (Mar. 9) in a non-conference doubleheader. Games are set for 1 and 3 p.m. starts, with live stats and video available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras come in on a five-game winning streak, winners of eight of the last nine games and winners of their last seven games played at Saleeby-Stokes Softball Field.

The Navy and Gold have been an offensive juggernaut through 24 games, outscoring opponents 183-59 in that time. The quartet of Tayler Barcomb, Maria Williamson, Hannah Price and Allyson High lead the way for the Cobras at the plate, all four recording over 20 RBI so far. Barcomb's 31 RBI are tops in the South Atlantic Conference, while Williamson's 29 RBI and Price's 27 RBI rank second and third in the SAC. High has plated 22 RBI to go along with two home runs.

In the circle, the Cobras have been equally as dominant, with all five pitchers recording below a 3.00 ERA. Christine Carver leads the SAC with a 0.79 ERA, while Tabitha Allen has a 1.48 ERA, ranking her fourth in the SAC.

The Crusaders travel to Hartsville with a 14-10 overall record, after picking up wins over Emmanuel College.

Gates to the Saleeby-Stokes Softball Field will open at noon. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
