Marauders Take Two From Cobras

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker softball team dropped a pair of non-conference games to visiting Millersville University on Tuesday (Mar. 19) at Saleeby-Stokes Field.  The loss sets the Cobras at a 16-12 record on the year.

Millersville (12-2) took the lead early in game one after a single through the left side drove in the first run of the game.   Coker would respond the bottom of the second when Logan Cox singled up the middle to drive in Lauren Brailsford for the tying 1-1 run.

The tie game would be short lived however, as the Marauders proceeded to score two runs in third and two more in the seventh to capture game one with a score of 5-2.

Game two featured four scoreless innings as both teams battled to take control.  Millersville then scored in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to take a 4-0 lead.  Coker threatened in the bottom of the seventh with runners in scoring position, but could not pull out the win.  The Marauders would go on to win game two 4-0, and sweep the series.

Coker will be looking to bounce back against Edinboro University on Wednesday (Mar. 20) in a doubleheader series.  The teams are set to take the field in game one at 2:00 p.m., followed by game two and 4:00 p.m.
