KENNESAW, GA - Ashleigh Beck went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored and Jessica Jolly tossed a complete game as USC Upstate opened the 2005 NCAA Tournament South Atlantic Regional with a 7-1 victory over Coker Thursday at Owl Field at Kennesaw State University.

USC Upstate improves to 44-13 on the year and advances to face North Florida Thursday night at 7:30.  Coker falls to the loser's bracket to face Kennesaw State who was upset by Columbus State in extra innings.

USC Upstate scored early as Katie Adams tripled in the first and scored when Krista Altom reached on an error.  The Spartans added to the lead in the second inning, scoring four runs in the frame to take a 5-0 lead.  Beck had a single to drive in Erin Driggers and Terra Goswick followed with an RBI single as well.  Shay Slater's sacrifice fly drove in a run, while Adams had a single to drive in a run.

USC Upstate pushed two more runs across in the third inning when Beck doubled to right field, emptying the bases to score Allie Cyrill and Jena Keith.

Coker scored a run in the sixth inning when Christan Morabito reached on an error and Kimberly Atkinson scored on the play, but Jolly kept the Cobras at bay to record her 20th win of the season.  Jolly struck out five and scattered four hits in the game.
