HARTSVILLE, SC – The Coker College softball team earned a trip to the NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional as the automatic qualifier from the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference.  The Regional, hosted by Kennesaw State University, begins May 12, with the championship game held on May 15.

The Cobras are the 6th seed in the Tournament after taking the CVAC regular season title and the Conference Tournament Championship with a 31-15 record.  Coker had a record of 16-15 at one point in the season before running off 16 consecutive wins, including a 4-0 march through the CVAC Tournament.

Host Kennesaw State is first in the region with a 48-10 mark, just edging the University of North Florida (39-10) in second.  USC-Upstate took the third spot with a 43-13 record and Carson-Newman (39-9) is fourth.  Columbus State made an upset run in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament to claim the fifth regional bid with a record of 33-12.

Play begins Thursday morning with Carson-Newman taking on Columbus State at 11:00 AM.  The Cobras follow at 1:30 against USC-Upstate with the winner to take on North Florida.  The Cobras faced USC-Upstate during the regular season with the Spartans winning 4-0 at the Patriot Invitational in Florence.
