Coker started the series with a four-run first inning and went on to add one in the sixth and two in the seventh. Barton mustered one run in the sixth but couldn’t get to starter Amanda Shelton.
Game two turned out to be a fantastic pitcher’s duel. The two teams went through seven innings in a scoreless tie with Jayme Beacham and Somer Bigham pitching masterfully. Coker and Barton both scored a run in the eighth inning but in the ninth, the Cobras pushed a run across and shutout the Bulldogs to earn the win.
Bigham allowed six hits and one unearned run in nine innings pitched, with seven strikeouts and only one walk. Morabito went 1-2 with a double, a walk and a sacrifice fly, and Atkinson went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly and one RBI. Amy Shelly had one hit, drew a walk, and had a sacrifice fly.
