HARTSVILLE, SC — Coker dropped its second conference game of the year 2-0 at Pfeiffer Saturday afternoon but bounced back in the second game for a 2-1 win in collegiate softball.

Coker had only three hits in the first game and the Falcons mustered only four, but seven combined errors kept runners on the base paths.  Pfeiffer took a 1-0 lead in the second and made it 2-0 in the fifth against Coker starter Somer Bigham.  Bigham pitched a complete game with four hits allowed, six strikeouts and one earned run.

The Falcons blanked CC through six more innings in the second game to put the Cobras in a tight spot.  Pfeiffer made the challenge more difficult in the bottom of the sixth when the scored for a 1-0 advantage.  Coker put two runners on base in the seventh and a pinch-hit double by Jacque Stewart drove in a pair and gave the Cobras the win.

Junior Amanda Shelton pitched a complete game for the win with five hits and one unearned run allowed.  Marie Mascio had two hits for Coker on the day and Stewart had the team’s only two RBI.

The Cobras take the field next at Limestone on Sunday, February 27, at 2:00 PM.
