Cobras Kick Off Season With Win Over St. Andrews

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College men's volleyball team started out the season strong with a dominant showing in a 3-1 (25-18, 28-26, 17-25, 25-22) victory over St. Andrews University on Tuesday (Jan. 15) night. 

Joao Victor Santos led the way for the Cobras, picking up a game-high 15 kills in the match. Santos also utilized his impressive serving skills to pick up a trio of service aces and also collected four digs. Fellow Brazilian, Gabriel Castro, also hit double digits in kills with 10, recorded four digs, and one service ace. Manuel Hernandez just missed double figures with nine kills, while Absalon Williams and Max Kuntz each had five kills. Kuntz also picked up a pair of impressive solo blocks on the night. Setter, Brandon Ravelo, notched a game-high 37 assists and also had a pair of service aces in the victory.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Jan. 19) when they travel to Alderson Broaddus for a match set the start at 1:00 PM.
