Cobras Look for Season Sweep of Royals

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker College men's volleyball team (10-8) brings in first-year program, Queens University of Charlotte, on Tuesday, March 27. The Cobras enter the match winning four of their last five, defeating the Royals 3-0 in their previous matchup at the beginning of the season.

Joao Victor Santos is having a remarkable junior season, leading the team in kills (254), service aces (36), solo blocks (12), block assists (41), and total blocks (53). Stephen Porras is the other Cobra to eclipse 200 kills (203), alongside 17 assists, 35 aces, 103 digs, and 17 total blocks. Gabriel Castro has collected 197 kills, 24 assists, 27 aces, 84 digs, and 22 total blocks. Parker Oldham has been a defensive force with his 35 total blocks, alongside 46 kills, 11 assists, 26 aces, and 79 digs. Aleksa Bijelic is excelling in his setter position, handing out 630 assists thus far. He has tallied 28 kills, 14 aces, 130 digs, and 23 total blocks as well. Gary Baker has been solid in the back row, popping up 166 digs to go along with 26 kills, 44 assists, five aces, and 10 total blocks.

As of March 22, Coker leads the nation in aces per set at 2.09. They are 14th with 9.46. Santos and Porras are sixth and eighth in aces per set, respectively. Santos also ranks seventh nationally in points per set with 4.61.

Queens (N.C.) has four player with over 100 kills on the season with the leader, Marco Vecellio, having 130. Aleksandar Perisic heads up the defense with 82 total blocks in their 22 matches.

First serve against the Royals is scheduled for 7:00 p.m on Tuesday, March 27.
