Cobras Drop Match to Saints, Dig Record Broken

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker men's volleyball team hosted the Limestone Saints on Saturday (Feb. 24) afternoon in the DeLoach Center. The Cobras fought back, but fell 3-2 (8-25, 25-23, 25-20, 23-25, 11-15).

Joao Victor Santos nearly tied his Coker record in single-match kills with his 26 on the afternoon. He also added 16 digs to complete a double-double, with two assists, one service ace, and four block assists. Gary Baker had nine digs, one kill, three assists, and one block assist. Gabriel Castro was the other Cobra to reach double-figure kills with 12. He collected three assists, six digs, and one block assist. Stephen Porras finished with eight kills, while tacking on one ace, nine digs, and one block assist. Parker Oldham added two kills, eight digs, and three total blocks. Aleksa Bijelic had a double-double of his own with 41 assists and 15 digs. He finished with a kill, an ace, and three block assists.

The team now holds a Coker record in single-match digs with 63. The previous high of 61 was held since 2014.

The Cobras will stay home for one more match to face the Trojans of Mount Olive on Tuesday (Feb 27). It is scheduled to being at 7:00 p.m.
