Cobras Take on Erskine Tuesday Evening

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's volleyball team will take on Erskine on Tuesday (Feb. 7) evening at 7 p.m. in the Harris E. & Louise H. DeLoach Center. Video and stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras head into Tuesday evening's match sporting a 4-2 overall record with victories over St. Andrews (3-0), Belmont Abbey (3-0), and North Greenville twice (3-1, 3-0).

In their most recent match, the Navy and Gold completed a dominating 3-0 sweep over North Greenville on Feb. 4. During that match, the Cobras were led offensively by Sanjae Holloway who laid down a personal season-best 11 kills. On the defensive end of the ball, Gary Baker collected nine digs and Stephen Porras had a team-best two total blocks.

Joao Victor Santos leads the Navy and Gold offensively with 64 kills on the year, averaging 3.76 kills per set. In addition, the Cobras have been impressive as a team from the service line coming in at second in the nation in aces per set averaging 2.09.  Defensively, Devion Whetstone has been a force in the middle of the defense tallying a team-high 14 total blocks. Gary Baker and Gabriel Castro have been key defensive players as well with 30 digs each.

Erskine heads into tomorrow's matchup with a 0-7 overall record. Isaac Lanier leads the Flying Fleet offensively with 54 total kills.

Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
