Men’s Tennis Rolls Through Catawba in SAC Action
The Coker College men’s tennis team (11-9 overall) rolled through the visiting Catawba College Indians by a score of 8-1 Wednesday
HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College men's tennis team (11-9 overall) rolled through the visiting Catawba College Indians by a score of 8-1 Wednesday (Apr. 11) afternoon in South Atlantic Conference action.
The Cobras began the match strong by sweeping doubles play. The tandem of Mark Watt and Henrik Hellbe picked up an 8-3 victory at the No. 1 spot, while Hunter Horton and Justus Lehman battled for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles. Felix Schweyer and Dominic Allan capped off doubles play for the Cobras with a decisive 8-4 decision at No. 3 doubles. Hellbe and Watt improved to 11-8 with their doubles victory, while Horton and Lehman upgraded their record to 12-7. Additionally, Allan and Schweyer boosted their record to 10-4 with their win today.
In singles action, Watt (7-5, 1-6, 7-5), Horton (6-1, 6-1), Schweyer (6-7, 7-5, 10-8), Hellbe (6-4, 6-4) and Lehman (8-7) all recorded victories. Watt improved to an impressive 16-4 on the season and Lehman upgraded his record to an outstanding 15-3 mark on the year. In addition, Horton evened his record to 10-10 in singles play with his victory this afternoon.
The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Apr. 14) when they host the Anderson University Trojans for senior day. Opening serve is set for 2 p.m.
