Coker Tabs Antoniewicz as New Head Men's Soccer Coach

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College has named Michael Antoniewicz as its head men's soccer coach, Dr. Lynn Griffin, vice president of athletics and athletic facilities announced today.

"We are excited to announce the hiring of Michael Antoniewicz.  His experience at Truett McConnell as the assistant coach of a successful program will aid him as he develops the Coker men's soccer program" said Griffin.  "Michael understands the competitiveness of the South Atlantic Conference and his experiences have prepared him to take Coker to the next level".

Antoniewicz makes his way to Hartsville after spending the last three years as the assistant men's soccer coach at Truett McConnell University, in which he assisted in all aspects of the day-to-day operations. During his time at Truett McConnell, Antoniewicz helped guide the Bears to a 32-20-3 record. Antoniewicz helped lead the Bears to their first ever Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship and first ever NAIA tournament appearance in 2017 after finishing the season with a record of 16-4-2.

His duties as assistant soccer coach at Truett McConnell include being the head of recruiting, compiling scouting reports, running training sessions, field maintenance, and player management on and off the field. Antoniewicz also aided international students with their student visa process and the NAIA eligibility process, while also handling off campus evaluations, campus visits, and social media development projects.

Along with his work at Truett McConnell, Antoniewicz serves as an academy coach for the 2018 MLS Cup Champions Atlanta United and the head coach of the Lanier Soccer Academy. He has coached some of the top soccer prospects in Georgia during his time in the Atlanta United Academy, leading training sessions throughout the academy system. He also holds a USSF Level D License.

"First, I would like to thank Dr. Wyatt, Dr. Griffin and the search committee for giving me this opportunity to be a part of the Coker Family," said Antoniewicz. "As soon as I met everybody, saw the campus and facilities, I was fully bought into what Coker is about and their vision and goals for the future. My wife and I are very excited about making the move and this next chapter in our lives. I want to thank Rob Miller, Head Coach at Truett McConnell University for giving me the opportunity to start my coaching career and building a successful, championship winning program on and off the field. I am very eager to get started with the team and I am very excited, honored, and looking forward to building a winning culture at Coker, where these young men will be winners athletically, in the classroom, and within our community."

Antoniewicz graduated from Truett McConnell in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Sports Management and is currently pursuing Master of Business Administration. He is a native of Kirkcaldy, Scotland and is the husband of Brianna Antoniewicz.
