Coker Shuts Out Flagler 3-0

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's soccer team shut out regionally ranked No. 1 Flagler College 3-0 on Wednesday (Oct. 30) night in a non-conference soccer match. With the win the Cobras improve to 8-5-2, extending their winning streak to three matches.

The Cobras first goal of the match came in the 27th minute when Daniel Jackson sent a cross into the box and Matt Taylor blasted it home. Just nine minutes later the Cobras struck again. This time it was Noah Gulley that sent a header into the upper left corner off a cross from Taylor, giving Coker a two-goal advantage heading into halftime.

Coker wasted little time in the second half as Jackson netted his team leading 10th goal of the season off a pass from Chris Martin in the 58th minute.

From then on it was all defense for the Cobras. They shut down a very explosive Flagler team holding them to just three total shots, none of which were on frame. On the other side of the ball, Coker only took four total shots, scoring on three of them.

The next match for the Cobras will be on Saturday (Nov. 2) at home versus Brevard College. It will be the final regular season match for Coker. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. following the women's match at 4:30 p.m. It will also be senior day for the Cobras and during halftime of the women's match coach Paul Leese and the Coker men will honor their 10 seniors with a special ceremony.
