HARTSVILLE, SC – Coker made one defensive mistake early in the game and that was all Erskine needed for a 1-0 win in men’s collegiate soccer.  The Cobras are 0-8-1 overall and 0-6-1 in the CVAC, while Erskine improves to 1-9-1 and 1-6 in conference.

A pass in front of the Cobras goal mouth was picked off in the 24th minute and Oscar Mazo put it away for a 1-0 EC lead.  The Flying Fleet then weathered a storm the rest of the way and clung to their prized lead.  Coker controlled play for much of the second half and kept the pressure up on the Fleet defense.  CC held a 10-8 advantage in shots and a 14-3 lead in corner kicks.

Junior Aaron Osteen/Black Mountain, NC made only two saves in the game and his counterpart, Jesse Kraay, collected five shots in the contest.  Erskine was whistled 31 times in the contest for fouls and the Cobras were called for 20 fouls of their own.  Freshman Jake Wyman/Bradenton, FL had several dangerous shots at the goal but they were all saved or just off target.

Coker will next head to Francis Marion on Monday, October 18, for a 3:30 PM match against the Patriots.
