Coker's Maresca '14 Named Carolina Hurricanes Team Massage Therapist

RALEIGH, N.C. - Coker University men's lacrosse alum Mike Maresca '14 has been named the new Team Massage Therapist of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, announced on July 13.

The Hurricanes elevated Maresca from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League (AHL) ahead of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, which will start Aug. 1. Prior to the AHL, Maresca had previously worked at The Spa at 500, Art of Massage, New York Spine and Wellness and Massage Envy after graduating from the Finger Lakes School of Massage.

"Mike better known as "Maresca", we could not be more proud of right now," said head men's lacrosse coach Dave Olliver. "There is a chance and opportunity that Maresca could come home with a Stanley Cup ring and that is amazing. Maresca was a pleasure to coach and was an amazing teammate. Maresca is a great example to our current athletes and young alumni that hard work will pay off and the opportunities out there for each of them are endless. Another Cobra in the real world that we are super proud of!"

A 2014 graduate of Coker, Maresca holds a bachelor's degree in physical education with a concentration in exercise science. In two seasons as a Cobra, He played in 12 games making four starts. He totaled seven goals and one assist for eight points, while also picking up five ground balls.
