FULL UNITED STATES INTERCOLLEGIATE LACROSSE ASSOCIATION RELEASE

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Coker University sophomore attackman Joe Venazio was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division II Warrior/New Balance Team of the Week, announced today (Tuesday, Feb. 25).

Venazio led the Cobras to two wins on the week, with the Cobras defeating Barton 19-12 on Tuesday (Feb. 18) and Embry-Riddle (Fla.) 16-15 on Sunday (Feb. 23). Venazio totaled nine goals and four assists for 13 points for the week, leading the Cobras in scoring during both games. Venazio also totaled nine ground balls and five caused turnovers in the pair of wins for Coker.

Venazio was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Offensive Player of the Week yesterday (Monday, Feb. 24) for his performance last week. It was his second Player of the Week honor this season.

Venazio currently leads the SAC in goals (21), assists (14) and points (35), and is also tied for sixth in ground balls (21) and leading the league in caused turnovers (12).

 The Myrtle Beach, S.C. native is the son of Joe and Tanya Venazio, and is an exercise science major.
