Cobras Open Up SAC Play Against No. 14 Lenoir-Rhyne

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's lacrosse team will open up South Atlantic Conference play when they host No. 14 Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday (Mar. 4). The Bears will be the third straight team ranked in the top 20 of the USILA Coaches Poll that Coker will play. Video and live stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

In their last game, the Cobras (1-2) fell to No. 15 Saint Leo 14-5 on Saturday (Feb. 25) at the Coker Athletic Field. Denton Wilks, Vinny Magro, Charles Stafford, and Brooks Long all tallied goals in the loss. Magro led the scoring effort with two goals during regulation. The Coker attackman notched his first goal in the second quarter and added his final goal in the third quarter.

Rylee Marsh has led the Navy and Gold offensively through three games in the season with a team-high seven points (4g, 3a). Vinny Magro (5g, 1a) comes in at second on the team in scoring with six points, while Austin Holgate (3g, 1a), Denton Wilks (4g), and Tim Wright (3g, 1a) have all notched four points each.

No. 14 Lenoir-Rhyne heads into tomorrow's matchup with a 2-1 record. The Bears have recorded victories over Rollins (14-12) and Wheeling Jesuit (21-17). Lenoir-Rhyne's lone loss came from No. 2 Limestone (18-9) on Feb. 11. Offensively, Mike Hanlon who netted five goals and dished out nine assists for 14 points leads the Bears.

Opening face off is set for 4 p.m. at the Coker Athletic Field. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free to all Coker faculty, staff, and students.
