Coker's Clay in 10th After Day One of Aflac/Cougar Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ga.- Coker sophomore Josh Clay (Star County, Ohio) fired a one-over-par 72 and an even-par 71 in the opening 36 holes of the Aflac/Cougar Invitational on Monday at the Country Club of Columbus in Columbus, Ga. Clay's combined one-over performance has him tied for 10th overall, the lowest finisher for the Cobra men during day one.

As a team the Cobras are tied for 13th out of 16 teams; they shot a combined 598 (+30) in the opening two rounds. Lynn University is the leader at 571 (+3) with Barry College in second at 573 (+5) and Georgia Southwestern is in third at 577 (+9).

In addition to Clay's solid play, senior Jared Crane (Greenville, S.C.) carded a 74 (+3) and a 75 (+4), while junior Jake Murphy (Hamilton, N.J.) shot a 78 (+7) and a 73 (+2). Freshmen Christopher Fuga (Phoenixville, Pa.) and Luke Coates (Florence, S.C.) rounded out the Cobra golfers with scores of 79 (+8) and 76 (+5) for Fuga and 83 (+11) and 77 (+6) for Coates.
