VASS, N.C. – The Cobra men’s golf team remains ten strokes off the pace after the second round of the 2011 Conference Carolinas Men’s Golf Championships at the Woodlake Resort, Maples Course in Vass, N.C. Queens University of Charlotte leads the field at +22 (598), while Barton College is in second at +26 (602) and Coker is tied for third with Belmont Abbey at +32 (608).

Diego Polo (Guatemala City, Guatemala) dropped to a tie for second after shooting a second round 75 (+3), while Jake Murphy (Hamilton, N.J.) is tied for seventh. He shot a 76 (+4) in the second round. Ben Conroy (Durham, Conn.) jumped into the Top 20 with a team best 74 (+2) on Monday, while Josh Clay (Stark County, Ohio) shot 77 (+5) and Jared Crane (Greenville, S.C.) fired a 76 (+4).

Coker will tee off for the third and final round on play on Tuesday morning starting at 8:00 a.m. The winner of the Conference Carolinas Championship receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Southeast Region Tournament to be held May 2-4 at the Victoria Hills Golf Club in Deland, Fla. The last time Coker won the Conference Carolinas Championship (formerly Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference ) was in 2006.
