GREENWOOD, S.C. – Coker men’s golf team posted a opening round score of 300 (+12) putting them 19 strokes off the leader, Georgia Southwestern (281, -7), in the 2011 Bearcat Invitational hosted by Lander University. Following Georgia Southwestern are host Lander University and Barton College in a tie for second place at 280 (-1).

Coker freshman Josh Clay (Stark County, Ohio) leads the field for the Cobras. He shot a one under 71 in the opening round placing him in a tie for 13th. Sophomore Jake Murphy (Hamilton, N.J.) fired a two over 74 and Diego Polo (Guatemala City, Guatemala) shot a five over 77. Rounding out the field for Coker were Ben Conroy (Durham, Conn.) and Jared Crane (Greenville, S.C.) who each shot six over 78.

The Cobras will complete the final round of the Bearcat Invitational on Tuesday.
