ORLANDO, Fla. – Jake Murphy (Hamilton, N.J.) fired a four under 68 on Tuesday to finish at 11 under for the tournament and place second at the 2011 Golfweek Division II Invitational in Orlando, Fla. Murphy entered the day a stroke ahead of Abiliene Christian’s Alex Carpenter, but thanks to a pair of eagles during his round on Tuesday, Carpenter was able to shoot a seven under 65 giving him a two shot advantage on Murphy at 13 under for the tournament.

Conference Carolinas was well represented at the top of the leader board as Murphy tied with fellow conference golfer Dermot McElhennon of Barton for second place honors, while Mount Olive College’s Scott Woodard came in fourth at seven under and Fabrizio Ceppi also of Mount Olive came in at sixth shooting two under for the tournament.

Barton and Lynn University each shot seven under as a team for the tournament tying for the top spot, with Abiliene Christian taking home third place after shooting one under in the three round tournament.

As a team the Cobras finished in 11th place shooting +23 (887) during the three day event.
