GREENWOOD, S.C. – After firing a third round 299 (+11), the Coker golf team dropped from fifth to sixth in the final round of the Bearcat Invitational in Greenwood, S.C. The Cobras finished 15 strokes back of Conference Carolinas rival Belmont Abbey, who snuck into the fifth spot with a five under par (283) team score in the third round.

Host Lander University came away with the title, shooting 833 (-32), they were followed by Armstrong Atlantic and Georgia College and State each with scores of 840 (-24) and Newberry College at 844 (-20).

Individually for the Cobras, Jay Goldenberg (Toronto, Ontario) finished the tournament at even par (216), followed by Ben Conroy (Durham, Conn.) at two over par (218). Jared Crane (Greer, S.C.) shot four over par (220), while Chris Marsh (Georgetown, S.C.) and John LaDow (Pottstown, Pa.) rounded out the field for the Cobras at seven over (223) and 17 over (233) respectively.

Coker will hit the links again on April 2-3 for the UNC-Pembroke Invitational at the Carolina Sands Country Club in White Lake, N.C. The Cobras are the two-time defending champion of the UNC-P Invitational.
