REUNION, Fla. – After the first round of play at the 2010 Golfweek Division II Invitational at the Independence Course in Reunion, Fla., the Coker Cobras are in tie for 10th place out of 18 of the nation’s best division II teams. With a team score of 306 (+18) the Cobras are tied with fellow Conference Carolinas school, Barton College, and are 15 shots back of team leader Lander University 291 (+3).

The third Conference Carolinas school in the tournament is Queens University of Charlotte, who is third after the first round of play. The Royals shot a team score of 295 (+7).

Individually for the Coker, freshman Jake Murphy (Hamilton, N.J.) leads the way in 10th place, firing a round one 73 (+1). Fellow classmate Ben Conroy (Durham, Conn.) is next for the Cobras with a four over 76, followed by senior Chris Marsh (Georgetown, S.C.) with a six over 78. Jay Goldenberg (Toronto, Ontario) and Jimmy Gillam (Tyrone, Pa.) round out the Coker five with scores of 79 (+7) and 83 (+11) respectively.
