Myrtle Beach, S.C. – In the opening round of the Coker College Spring Invitational Golf Tournament, it was St. Edward’s University (293) that was able to weather the stiff winds at the Grande Dunes Golf Resort in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and take an 11 stroke lead over host Coker (304) and Dallas Baptist University (304) on the par 72 course.

Behind Coker and Dallas Baptist is UNC-Pembroke (306) in fourth place, followed by Anderson University (308) in fifth. Rounding out he field of nine are Post University (313), Newman University (315), Erskine College (318) and Tri-County Tech (334).

Individually, Adam Sheriff of Anderson leads the field with a three under 69, followed by Andrew Workman of St. Edwards with a two under 70 and Patrick Wilson of Erskine with a one under 71.

For Coker, freshman Diego Polo (Guatemala City, Guatemala) leads the way with a one over 73, while Georgetown, S.C. native Chris Marsh shot a three over 75. John LaDow (Pottstown, PA) fired a five over 77, followed by Jared Crane (Greenville, SC) with a79 and Patrick Kirby (Paris, Ontario) with an 80.

The second round of the Coker Invitational at the Grande Dunes Golf Resort will conclude on Tuesday, with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
