Kiawah Island, S.C. – Just one stroke off the lead, the Coker Cobras Golf Team had a big opening day at the Kiawah Island Invitational hosted by USC-Aiken. Coker, 10 under par, shot a combined 278, just one stroke off leader and host USCC-Aiken at 11 under, 277. Not only is Coker one stroke off the lead, but Cobra, Chris Marsh (Georgetown, SC) is tied for first place with a eight under par 64, setting a new course record at the Cougar Point Golf Club, along with J.P. Solis of USC-Aiken.

Also in the top ten after day one is Trey Bridwell (Greer, SC) with four under par 68, tying him for fourth place, while John LaDow (Pottstown, PA) is tied for 14th place after an even par 73 in the first round. Rounding out the Cobra five are Jimmy Gillam (Tyrone, PA) with a two over 74 and Diego Polo (Guatemala City, Guatemala) with a +10, 82.

Coker will continue the second round of play on Tuesday. The Cobras will look to hold off Georgia College and State (-9), Belmont Abbey (+2) and USC- Beaufort (+5), all while trying to over take the Pacers of USC-Aiken. Teams begin to tee off at 8:00 a.m.
