Mooresville, N.C. – The Coker College golf team completed their first of three rounds at the 2008 Atlantic Regional Golf Tournament at The Point Lake and Golf Club. With a combined score of 306 (+18) the Cobras are in third place behind host Belmont Abbey at 294 (+6) and Anderson University at 303 (+15).

Leading the Cobras is sophomore Jimmy Gillam (Tyrone, PA), firing a first round even par 72, tying him for second place overall. Gillam is followed by Jay Goldenberg (Toronto, Ontario) with a four over 76, while Trey Bridwell (Greer, SC) and Chris Marsh (Georgetown, SC) each shot seven over 79 on the day. Rounding out the Cobras five is Stephen Thomson (Bracebridge, Ontario) with a 13 over 85 on the day.

The Cobras return to the links on Tuesday, for round two. Coker’s Thomson is the first to tee-off at 9:30 a.m., followed by Goldenberg, Gillam, Bridwell and Marsh.
