CLEMMONS, N.C. -- After losing by one shot to Barton College in last year's league championship, Belmont Abbey fired a 9-over par 293 on Tuesday to edge Barton by two strokes in the 2008 Conference Carolinas Men's Golf Championships at Salem Glen Country Club.

The Crusaders were led by Freshman of Year Peter Tarver Jones, who carded a low final round of 3-under 68 on the par 71, 6,716-yard layout. Abbey finished at 879 (+27) while Barton fired a 295 Tuesday to finish at 881. Anderson finished at 883 for third while Coker took fourth at 884.

The Tournament MVP and medalist was Anderson junior Adam Sheriff, who finished at even-par 213 for the event to edge Belmont Abbey's Connor Tomlinson by one shot.

Defending tourney champ Jonathan Burke, Tarver Jones and Pfeiffer's Laurence Noott each shot.

Those five were joined on the All-Tournament team by Queens University of Charlotte's Iain Hall and Barton's Daniel Castleberry at 217, Pfeiffer's Marc Kourie and Anderson's Kurt Owings at 218 and Coker's Jimmy Gillam at 219.
