Kiawah Island, SC- After the first day of play at the 2007 Kiawah Island Invitational, the Coker College Cobras Golf Team is in ninth place out of 16 teams. As a team Coker shot a combined 297 (+9).Oklahoma Christian is leading the field with a combined 283 (-5), followed by Armstrong Atlantic 287 (-1) and host USC-Aiken and North Alabama are tied at 289 (+1).

 

Individually for the Cobras, Benoit Gordon/Montreal, Quebec, and Chris Marsh/Georgetown, SC, were the leaders, each firing a one under 71 for the day. Ben Lasso/Falls Church, VA, opened his college career by shooting a three over 75, while Stephen Thomson/Bracebridge, Ontario, shot an eight over 80. Rounding out the field for the Cobras was freshman AJ Sanders/Hartsville, SC, shooting a 14 over 86 in his first collegiate tournament.

 

Coker will tee it up for the final round of the invitational on Tuesday morning, with the first Cobra teeing-off at 8:20 a.m.
