VALDOSTA, Ga. Defending champion West Florida shot a two-round total of 577 (+1) to claim a two stroke lead after the first two rounds of play Monday at the Southeastern Collegiate, being hosted by Valdosta State University at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

 

The Argonauts followed their first round 291 (+3) with a two-under 286 to claim the lead. Nova Southeastern was two strokes behind with a 579 (+3), after rebounding from a 295 (+7) in Monday’s morning round to shoot a four-under 284 in the afternoon.

 

Florida Southern finished the day six-over with a 582 while North Alabama was at +11 with a 587. Georgia College and Barry tied for fifth with at 589 (+13) while Armstrong Atlantic stood seventh with a 14-over 590. Florida Tech and Rollins both shot a 595 (+19) to tie for eighth while Valdosta State and Presbyterian tied for 10th with a 20-over 596. Eckerd finished the day 12th with a 604 (+28) followed by Lynn, Coker and West Georgia tied for 13th at 29-over (605). Florida Gulf Coast shot a 610 (+34) to stand 16th while St. Leo (611/+35) was a stroke behind in 17th. Tampa fired a 617 (+41) to round out the field.

 

UWF’s David Lingmerth finished the two rounds five-under par with a 139 to claim the top spot individually, followed by Florida Southern’s Matt Stauch with a 140 (-4). Presbyterian’s Hugh Morrison tallied a 141 (-3) to claim third place while North Alabama’s Wes Smith, who shot a tournament low 68 in the first round, finished the day in fourth with a 142 (-2). West Florida’s Federico Damus, Georgia College’s Kyle Collins, Barry’s Hernan Borja and Eckerd’s Donnie Troy all shot a 143 (-1) to tie for fifth.

 

Individually for Coker, Blaine Rogers is leading the way at 149 (+5), followed by Jay Goldenberg at 150 (+6).  Jimmy Gillam is at 151 (+7) and Chris Marsh shot a 155 (+11), rounding out the Cobras five is Keith Wallace with a two round total of 162 (+18).

 

The tournament concludes with a single round Tuesday, with the first golfers teeing off at 8:30 a.m. Teams will tee off the first and 10th holes every eight minutes with the following pairings:
