Daniels, WV- On a cold and blustery day the Coker College Golf Team got off to a rough start in the first round of the 2006 Division II NCAA Men’s Golf National Championship at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, WV.

 

With temperatures in the low 40s and winds gusting, the Cobras teed off in their first ever NCAA Championship and consequentially, had a tough time on a very difficult course, shooting a 20 over, 300, leaving them tied for 13th place after day one. The University of South Carolina Aiken leads the field with a five over, 285, followed by California State-Bakersfield and Florida Southern University, both with eight over, 288.

 

Among the CVAC schools Coker is last with Pfeiffer tied for 5th at 13 over and Barton tied for 12th at 19 over.

 

Individually for the Cobras, Vincent Dumouchel is tied for eighth after shooting a 72 (+2), followed by Gary Morgan with a 75 (+5). Next is Blaine Rogers at 76 (+6), then Johary Raveloarison with a 77 (+7) and finally Benoit Gordon with a 79 (+9).

 

The Cobras return to the course tomorrow for the second round and will tee off starting at 1:00 p.m. Fans can follow all the golf action live online at www.golfstat.com with live scoring.
