Hartsville, SC- The Coker College Men’s Golf Team had two outstanding final rounds of golf to claim the 2006 CVAC Men’s Championship on Friday afternoon in collegiate golf.

 

Coker started the day by completing the second round that they had started on the Thursday, shooting a combined 289 for round two for a total of 580, just four strokes ahead of Belmont Abbey at 584. The Cobras carried their momentum over into the final 18 holes and her able to fire a 284 for the third round and an 864 for the tournament.

 

Belmont Abbey finished at 879 for the tournament, in second place and Pfeiffer University came in at 882 in third.

 

Individually, Dion Sirrianni of Lees-McRae, won the CVAC Championship, with a three round total of 213. Coker’s Benoit Gordon and Johary Raveloarison tied for second with scores of 214.

In the women’s tournament, Pfeiffer University increased their lead shooting a second round total of 308, giving them a two day total of 624. Anderson University is in second at 682, and Mount Olive is in third at 693.

 

Britany Beltran fired off an even par 72 for the second round, including a hole-in-one on the 11th hole. She is leading with a combined 149, followed by her teammates Andrea Grier (155) and Charlene Reid (156) in second and third place respectively.

 

The 2006 CVAC Women’s Golf Championship plays its third and final round on Saturday, with teams teeing off at 12:30 p.m.
