HARTSVILLE, SC – Queens University of Charlotte leads after day one of the CVAC Men’s Golf Championships hosted by Coker College at the Hartsville Country Club.  In the Women’s Championships, Pfeiffer shot a 324 and are four shots in front of Limestone (328). 

The Royals fired a 296 on the first day and lead Coker and Barton by five strokes (301).  Pfeiffer University shot a 303 and is in fourth place with Lees-McRae in fifth with a 308.  Rounding out the 10-team tournament is St. Andrews (316), Mt. Olive (318), Anderson (322), Limestone (325), and Belmont Abbey (327).

Anderson College, the 2004 women’s champions, is 13 strokes back (337) in third place, with St. Andrews (357) and Queens (358) rounding out the team scoring.

Louis-Pierre Godin of Coker and Jon Wetton of Barton lead the men’s tournament with a two-under par 70 in the first round.  Queens’ Chris White and Ian Kenwright of Pfeiffer are tied in third place with a 72 and Joshua Beck of Lees-McRae is in fifth with a score of 73. 

There is a four-way tie atop the women’s leaderboard, as Heather Pothier (St. Andrews), Fiona Hindshaw (Pfeiffer), Holly Tompkins (Limestone) and Katie Clayton (Limestone) all shot a 77 on the first day.  Lindsey Snyder of Mt. Olive, Nikki Taggart of Pfieffer, and Darcie Davis from Anderson are tied for fifth and three-shots out of the lead with scores of 80.
