HARTSVILLE, SC – Coker’s men’s golf team rallied from one-shot back of Belmont Abbey on the second day of the Coker College Intercollegiate to earn a four-shot victory over the Crusaders.  The Cobras 287-291-578 bested BAC’s 286-296-582, and also the surprising Coker “B” team, which placed third with a 289-301-590.

Sophomore Vincent Dumouchel/Candiac, Quebec won the event for the second consecutive year with a fantastic 69-68-137 score.  Sophomore Louis-Pierre Godin/Champlain, Quebec shot a 70-71-141 to tie for second with the “B” team’s sophomore Brad Wissmueller/Wausau, WI (71-70-141).

Hartsville’s Jeffery Johnson tied for sixth for Coker with a total of 145 and freshman Andrew Howard/Gainsville, FL, of the “B” team, matched Johnson to also earn All-Tournament honors.  Junior Gary Morgan/Dublin, Ireland finished in 24^th for Coker with a 155 and sophomore Johary Raveloarison/Antananarivo, Madagascar placed 40^th with a 162. 

On the “B” team, sophomore Blaine Morgan/Simpsonville, SC tied for 11^th with a 72-74-146, and Florence native Andrew Efird tied for 32^nd with a score of 158.  Junior Stephen Frisch/Northampton, PA placed 47^th with a final score of 177.  Also competing as individuals for Coker were Stephen Thomson/Bracebridge, Ontario (77-75-152), and Brandon Price/Pageland, SC (91-81-172).

Belmont Abbey played more consistently than the Cobras, but had no player shoot under par on the second day as the CC did.  Will Wilson and Kent Cherry each tied for 6^th with scores of 145, and Ryan Bates and Kevin McPherson both shot a 146 to tie for 11^th.  Completing the top-five overall were Anderson with a 297-300-597, and Mars Hill with a 300-301-601.

Coker heads to the Presbyterian College Intercollegiate next Monday and Tuesdsay, October 11-12, to defend the title it won there last season.
