Men's Basketball Falls Late at Carson-Newman on Monday

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Coker University men's basketball fell late at Carson-Newman on Monday (Jan. 17) by a score of 68-48.

The teams played to a 13-13 tie in the first six minutes and change, before an 8-0 Coker run put the Cobras ahead 21-13 with nine minutes to play in the period. The Eagles responded with a run of their own to leave the teams tied at 26 at the break. 

Carson-Newman began the second half on a run to pull ahead in the game, and would hold the lead until the final horn.

Jahnarious Snell led the way for the Cobras with 17 points, while Demar Anderson also added a career-high 10 points. Six other Cobras contributed points in the game. Williams Onyeodi led the way on the glass with nine rebounds, while Jordan Jones and Raymond Bellamy also each pulled down a career-high six boards in the game. Anderson and Snell were also active on the glass for the Cobras. Jones dished out a career-high eight assists in the game for the Cobras, while four other Cobras helped on Coker buckets in the game. Five different Cobras registered steals in the game. 

The Cobras return to action on Wednesday (Jan. 19) to host Catawba in South Atlantic Conference action. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. from the DeLoach Center, with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
