Men's Basketball Falls at Tusculum in Conference Action Saturday

GREENEVILLE, TENN. - The Coker University men's basketball team fell at Tusculum in South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday (Jan. 16) by a score of 58-50.

Tusculum jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first five minutes, before the Cobras would battle back to tie the game at 10 with 12 and a half minutes to play in the first half. The teams would battle to ties at 14-14 and 16-16, before Tusculum would later take a 23-22 lead into the final two minutes of the half. Tusculum scored the last two buckets of the half, taking a 27-22 lead to the break.

The Cobras got back within two four and a half minutes into the second period, before Tusculum would get its lead back up to four with 12 minutes to play. After the Cobras got within two again, the Pioneers went on a run to extend their lead to 12 with seven minutes to play. The Cobras would get back within single digits with just over two minutes to play, as the Pioneers would keep the Cobras at a few possessions' distance until the final horn to get the victory.

Chandler Lindsey paced the Cobras with 16 points on the day, while Christopher Fordham also scored 12 points in the game. Five other Cobras contributed in the scoring column in the contest. Fordham led the Cobras on the glass nearly missing a double-double with eight rebounds, while six other Cobras were active in the rebounding effort. Anderson Keller dished out a team-high two assists in the game, while five others each registered one assist. Lindsey led the Cobras with three steals, while Fordham also recorded two in the game. Lindsey posted the lone rejection on the day for Coker.

The Cobras (4-4, 4-4 SAC) are back in action at the DeLoach Center on Saturday (Jan. 23) to host Lenoir-Rhyne. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m. with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
