Men's Basketball Drops Conference Contest to No. 2/3 Lincoln Memorial Tuesday Night

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker University men's basketball team dropped its South Atlantic Conference contest to No. 2/3 Lincoln Memorial on Tuesday (Nov. 24) by a score of 78-57.

 Lincoln Memorial led just 9-8 through six minutes of play, but not before Chandler Lindsey scored two of Coker's first three buckets to notch his 500th career point. From there the two teams would play to a 16-16 tie through nine minutes, before LMU would grow its lead to seven over the next three minutes. The Cobras would come back over the next two minutes and get back within two, before the teams played to a 28-28 deadlock with three minutes to play in the half. LMU finished the first half on an 8-2 run to take a 36-30 lead to the half. 

LMU extended its lead into double digits in the first minute of the second half, and they would maintain their double-digit lead past the five-minute mark. Seth Bennett would knock down a triple to get the Cobras back within nine with 14 minutes to play, before LMU would take control from that point and not relinquish its double-digit lead. 

Lindsey led the Cobras with a game-high 20 points, while Anderson Keller also added 10 points in the contest. Five other Cobras contributed in the scoring column in the game. Lindsey also posted a game-high eight boards to lead the Cobras, while 10 others were active on the glass for Coker. Courtney Murrell Jr. dished out a game-high three assists for Coker, while six others assisted on buckets for Coker. Murrell also led the Cobras with two steals in the game, while four others recorded one steal apiece in the game. Dakota Jennings, Murrell and Malcolm Kennedy each blocked shots in the game.

The Cobras (1-1, 1-1 SAC) are back in action tomorrow (Wednesday, Nov. 25) when they travel to take on the University of South Carolina in a Division I exhibition. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m., with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com
