Men's Basketball Falls on Senior Day on Saturday

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker University men's basketball team fell on Senior Day on Saturday (Feb. 29) to UVA-Wise by a score of 77-63.

UVA-Wise led 9-5 through the first media timeout, before extending their lead to nine five minutes in. The Cavaliers would briefly stretch their lead into double-digits, before Coker would cut into the deficit around the halfway point of the first half. Coker would be held at a few possessions' distance for the next few minutes, before Coker would get within five with four and a half minutes to play. The Cobras would get even closer in the final three minutes and change, before UVA-Wise would take a 38-36 lead to the half.

UVA-Wise began the second half by increasing their lead back into double digits through the first six minutes, before Coker would get back within six with under 12 minutes to play. UVA-Wise re-gained its double-digit lead with 10 minutes to play in the half, as the Cavaliers would hold the lead in double digits until the final horn.

Coker was led by 21 points from Chandler Lindsey, while Williams Onyeodi and Dakota Jennings each chipped in 14 points on the night. Three other Cobras contributed points in the game. Coker out-rebounded UVA-Wise 40-32 in the game, led by 11 rebounds from Onyeodi to complete the double-double. Seven other Cobras were active on the glass, while Lindsey was just one rebound shy of a double-double himself. Lindsey dished out a team-high four assists, while Jaylin Stewart also recorded two assists on the day. Lindsey led the Cobras with two steals, while Onyeodi also had one steal in the game. Ryan Carfley recorded the lone block on the day for Coker.

This concludes the 2019-20 men's basketball season.
