Cobras and No. 17 Royals Rumble in Midweek SAC Showdown

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team will be back at home for the first time in three weeks on Wednesday (Dec. 9) when they take on the visiting Queens University of Charlotte Royals at 8 p.m. in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. The Coker defense has been the catalyst so far during the 4-2 start, giving up a conference-low 65 points per contest, pulling down just over 40 rebounds and causing almost 15 turnovers.

Offensively, the Cobras are led by the duo of Trey Marshall and Jake Barrett. Both are averaging just above nine points per game, while Aubrey Daniel and Jalal Abdul-Azeez are averaging 7.2 points per game. In the paint, Trey James and Jalen Watson are pulling down 6.8 and 6.5 rebounds per game.

The Royals make the trip to Hartsville sporting a perfect 7-0 overall record, 2-0 in conference record and the No. 17 national ranking in the latest NABC Coaches Poll after beating Anderson University 75-64. They are led by the tandem of Rob Lewis and Sean Morgan. Lewis is averaging 20.6 points per game, while Morgan is registering 16.2 points per game.

Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. at the DeLoach Center. Tickets are $15 dollars for reserved seats, $5 dollars for adults, $3 dollars for students, and free for all Coker students, faculty and staff.
