SALISBURY, N.C. – Errick Bethel scored a game-high 29 points in the Coker Cobras' 71-66 road loss to the Catawba Indians on Wednesday (Jan. 14) in South Atlantic Conference action.

A tightly contested opening half saw neither team leading by more than seven at any point in the first 20 minutes. The Cobras went into the locker room with a two-point, 31-29 lead.

The second half was much of the same. The teams were all knotted up at 63, after a three-pointer by Coker's Alex Cohen. However, clutch three-point and free throw shooting by the Indians would lead Catawba on an 8-3 run to finish the game and take home the win.

Bethel's 29 points included shooting just under 50 percent from the field and a stellar 11-13 from the charity stripe. Donte Samuels was the only other Coker scorer in double figures with 10 points. Trey James had another near double-double with seven points and a game-high 16 rebounds.

Coker will be back at home on Saturday (Jan. 17) as they take on the Carson-Newman Eagles in a SAC double-header. Tip-off will be at 4 p.m. at Coker's DeLoach Center.
