Cobras Fall to South Carolina 78-52 in Exhibition Game

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Coker Cobras took on the University of South Carolina Gamecocks in a men's basketball exhibition game on Sunday (Dec. 21). Coker lost the game to the NCAA Division I Gamecocks, 78-52.

The Cobras opened the game with an impressive 5-0 run, but the Gamecocks eventually found their rhythm and took a 35-23 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The second half was all Gamecocks, as they outscored Coker 43-29 in the final 20 minutes. As team the Cobras pulled down 31 rebounds and shot 31 percent from the floor.

The Navy and Yellow were led by the senior guard duo of Errick Bethel and Jordan Scott. Bethel led all Coker scorers with 14 points, while Scott scored 13 points. Trey James had a near double-double as he pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds and chipped in eight points.

The Cobras will now take a break for the holidays. They will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 31 for a non-conference road game at UNC Pembroke. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
