BANNER ELK, N.C. – With a 69-56 win over the Lees-McRae Bobcats the Coker Cobras men’s basketball team not only secured their first winning record in Conference Carolinas play (10-8) since 2009, but they also secured the No. 4 seed in the Conference Carolinas Men’s Basketball Tournament that begins on Monday, Feb. 28.

The win assures the Cobras home court advantage for the first round of the tournament, as they will play host to the No. 5 seed. That team has yet to be determined as Mount Olive, St. Andrews, Pfeiffer and Belmont Abbey are all in the hunt for the final four spots in the tournament.

Four players scored in double figures to help secure the victory, with Liam Kyle (Cleveland, Ohio) and Tom Wright (Sydney, Australia) leading the way with 15 points each. Kyle also pulled down a game high 11 rebounds, while Vatrick Thompson (Columbia, S.C.) and Delonte Doles (Newport News, Va.) each scored 12 points.

The Cobras held a narrow 33-31 lead at the half, but thanks to some stellar defense and superb scoring during the second half, they picked up the 69-56 win.

Adam McFerran was the only Bobcat to score in double digits. He had 17 points and seven rebounds.

The Cobras will now play the waiting game to see who their next opponent will be. Regardless of who the opposition will be, the Coker will take to the court at 7:00 p.m. in the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium.
