HARTSVILLE, S.C. – In what could be their final game in the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium, Coker’s five seniors made their last game count with an explosive 98-86 win over Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas men’s basketball action. Four of the Cobras five seniors scored in double figures, with five total Coker players netting 10 or more points.

Looking to avenge an loss to the Falcons earlier this season, while also wanting to make their last game at Coker memorable, Coker seniors Liam Kyle (Cleveland, Ohio), Tom Wright (Sydney, Australia), Vatrick Thompson (Columbia, S.C.), Joselle Bracy (Ruby, S.C.) and Ryan Aijian (Santa Barbar, Calif.) scored 62 of the Cobras 98 points.

Kyle led the Cobras with 19 points; Wright added 14 with Thompson and Bracy each scoring 11 and Aijian chipping in seven. Bracy was the rebounding leader with six with Kyle and Wright each pulling down five. Kyle also had four assists and three blocks on the night.

Pfeiffer’s Chris Woods had a game high 35 points, while Jeff Pettiway added 17 points for the Falcons.

In addition to Coker’s senior leadership, junior Delonte Doles (Newport News, Va.) had 15 points and five assists.

The Cobras used a 47-31 halftime lead to secure the victory, as the Falcons outscored the Cobras 55-51 in the second half.

In one of their best shooting games of the season the Cobras shot 64.3 percent from the field and 84 percent from the charity stripe, while Pfeiffer shot just 43.9 percent from the field and 77.4 percent from the free throw line.

The win improves Coker’s Conference Carolinas record to 8-8 and moves them into sixth place in the conference standings with just two games left in the regular season.

The Cobras next game is on the road against Erskine College on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. Coker will then travel to Lees-McRae on Saturday, Feb. 26 for their final regular season game of the season. Should Coker win both of those games and Mount Olive lose, the Cobras will have a chance to be a host team for the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament starting Monday, Feb. 28.
